Medical

The brigade's medical area ranges from tactical medicine in the positions to training personnel in the rear.

A platoon or battery combat medic works together with the unit: provides aid where it cannot be postponed and ensures evacuation. A rifleman-medic combines combat tasks with medical ones. An ambulance driver makes sure the wounded get to care. A medical instructor works on training — teaching everyone else what saves lives in the first minutes.

A medical education is welcome but not required for every position. Tactical medicine is practised on simulators, with repetition until it becomes automatic, because in a real situation there is no time to think.

Civilian medical experience counts. Paramedic, nurse, emergency medical technician, doctor — all these skills are needed here, though in a different environment.

This is an area where whether one person comes back depends directly on another. That is exactly why training here is never cut short.

Some medical positions are combat ones and some are not — this is stated clearly in each vacancy. The combat medic and the rifleman-medic work as part of a unit in the positions. The medical instructor works mostly in the rear, training personnel. So you can choose your level of involvement rather than having it decided for you.

Civilian medics have their length of service and qualifications recognised. If you are torn between a combat and a support medical position, this can be discussed at the interview, and the decision is not final forever: transfers within the brigade are possible.
