Vacancy: Barber

A neat haircut after weeks at the positions is a trifle only to someone who hasn't been there. For a soldier, it is the moment he feels like himself again.

A brigade barber is a hairdresser who cuts and shaves service members: men's haircuts, beard shaping, shaves. The work is in the rear, by appointment and according to the units' schedules.

This is a position for a craftsman who works quickly and cleanly with any type of hair and keeps the tools in order.

Who can become a barber

No military experience is required. What you need is a craftsman's hands — experience in a barbershop or hair salon.

What really matters:

  • At least a year of experience as a barber or men's hairdresser; a portfolio is an advantage
  • Different techniques: clippers, scissors, fades, beard shaping, shaving
  • Sanitary standards: disinfecting tools after every client
  • Punctuality and the ability to talk calmly with people who have just come back from a task
  • Medical fitness — determined by the military medical board (VLK)

On the main question: this is a military position, and everyone goes through basic military training. But you are hired for this specific job — in your profession.

A barber's duties in the 141st SMB

In addition to what is described in the requirements above:

  • Men's haircuts and beard shaping for personnel
  • Shaves and aftercare
  • Bookings and schedules, so that units coming back from the positions have time for a haircut
  • Disinfecting and caring for tools, keeping the workplace clean
  • Tracking consumables and submitting requests for resupply

How you will be trained

The path is the same for everyone: 51 days of basic military training, then the brigade adaptation course — 14–15 days with instructors who have combat experience.

After that, you work in your profession. Civilian barbering experience counts in full: the conditions change, not the craft.

Tactical medicine is drilled until it becomes automatic. Our instructors' principle is short: the priority is to survive.

What you will be provided with

You will be fully kitted out: gear, protective equipment, a workplace with equipment.

You won't be alone. The barber works in the support units — alongside the logistics service, cooks and drivers: everyone who makes sure soldiers have decent living conditions between tasks.

What the terms include:

  • Pay: base pay of UAH 21,000 + an additional bonus of UAH 30,000 — approximately UAH 51,000 – 55,000 per month in total, depending on the position and conditions of service
  • Full provision of gear, protective equipment and military property
  • The social package provided for service members
  • Opportunity to obtain combatant status (UBD)

Where you can grow

  • Senior barber, organising personal services for the unit
  • Logistics service — welfare support for personnel
  • Related support specialities
  • Professionally — hundreds of haircuts in all kinds of conditions and regular clients among your comrades

In the 141st, competence and results count — not length of service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Logic and process: we answer the key questions about enlistment, training and status.

Apply for this position
01

Do I need barbering experience?

+

Yes, preferably at least a year in a barbershop or salon. A certificate is not required — what matters is how you cut, so a portfolio helps.

02

Is a barber in the Armed Forces a combat position?

+

No, it is a support position in the rear. Everyone goes through general military training, but the main task is haircuts and shaves for personnel.

03

Do I need my own tools?

+

The brigade provides the workplace and the basic equipment. If you have favourite tools of your own, you can work with them.

04

I have no military experience. Can I still join you?

+

Yes. Most of our best specialists were civilians yesterday. What matters to us is your motivation. We’ll match a role to your skills: if you understand machinery — you’ll go to the mechanics; if you know electronics — to UAVs or communications. Everything military — we’ll teach you.

05

How long does training take before deployment to the unit?

+

Every recruit completes Basic General Military Training (BGMT) at a training center. After that — additional specialized training depending on the chosen role. We send only the prepared to the line of contact — that is our core principle.

06

What happens after I fill out the form?

+

Your application goes to the recruiting center. Within 24 hours our specialist will call — it’s not an interrogation, just an introduction and answers to your questions. If we’re a match, the brigade issues an official request and our liaison helps you get through the TRC and MMB as fast as possible.

07

Can I transfer to the 141st SMB from another unit?

+

Yes, we consider transfers — including via the Army+ app. Fill out the form and select the status “Active service member” — a recruiter will advise on your real chances and the steps involved.

08

I am AWOL (SZCh). Can I join?

+

The law allows a return to service. If you’re motivated to fight in a sound team — fill out the form and state your status honestly. Our specialists will advise you individually on legal ways to return. Confidentially.

09

Do you provide uniform and equipment?

+

Yes. The brigade fully provides basic kit, body armor, helmets and weapons. Plus — thanks to a strong volunteer network, we have additional technological support: drones, EW, transport.
