Vacancy: Deputy Battalion Commander for MPS

A unit's combat effectiveness is not only about weapons and training. A battalion whose people are burnt out, have lost trust in their commanders or are living on the edge fights worse than one where this is dealt with systematically.

The Deputy Battalion Commander for MPS analyses and monitors the morale and psychological state of personnel, plans and coordinates measures to improve it, and runs training sessions and consultations.

This is a management position: you are responsible not for an individual person but for the state of the whole battalion.

Who can become a Deputy Battalion Commander for MPS

Higher education in psychology or related fields is required.

What really matters:

  • Higher education in psychology or related fields
  • Ability to organise training sessions and seminars for large groups
  • Ability to work as part of the battalion command team
  • Fitness for service in terms of health and moral qualities
  • Additional certificates, grades and qualifications are an advantage

How the deputy battalion commander differs from the deputy company commander for MPS: the level of responsibility. The battalion level means planning and coordination across units. The company level is closer to the people, and adds monitoring of discipline.

What a Deputy Battalion Commander for MPS does in the 141st SMB

In addition to what is described in the requirements above:

  • Analysing and monitoring the morale and psychological state of subordinate personnel
  • Planning and coordinating measures to improve morale
  • Running psychological training sessions, seminars and consultations
  • Liaising with battalion and brigade units
  • Keeping documentation and reports
  • Working as part of the battalion command team

How you will be trained

The path is the same for everyone: 51 days of basic military training, then the brigade adaptation course — 14–15 days with instructors who have combat experience.

Then comes training in morale and psychological support at battalion level: planning measures, working with command, reporting.

Tactical medicine is drilled until it becomes automatic. Our instructors' principle is short: the priority is to survive.

What you will be provided with

You will be fully kitted out: gear, protective equipment, a workstation and communications equipment.

You will not be on your own. The deputy battalion commander relies on the psychological support group, the brigade psychologists and the deputy company commanders.

What the terms include:

  • Pay: base pay from UAH 25,000 + an additional bonus of UAH 30,000 — approximately UAH 55,000 per month in total, depending on the position and conditions of service
  • Full provision of gear, protective equipment and military property
  • The social package provided for service members
  • Opportunity to obtain combatant status (UBD)

Where you can grow

  • Leadership positions in MPS at brigade level
  • Staff positions that require experience of working with personnel
  • Instructor training MPS specialists
  • Command positions, given the relevant experience

In the 141st, competence and results count — not length of service.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Logic and process: we answer the key questions about enlistment, training and status.

Apply for this position
01

Is a degree in psychology mandatory?

+

You need higher education in psychology or related fields.

02

Is this a command position?

+

Yes, it is a management role within the battalion command, not a specialist consultant position.

03

How is it different from the deputy company commander for MPS?

+

In level: the battalion means planning and coordination across units; the company means closer work with people plus monitoring of discipline.

04

I have no military experience. Can I still join you?

+

Yes. Most of our best specialists were civilians yesterday. What matters to us is your motivation. We’ll match a role to your skills: if you understand machinery — you’ll go to the mechanics; if you know electronics — to UAVs or communications. Everything military — we’ll teach you.

05

How long does training take before deployment to the unit?

+

Every recruit completes Basic General Military Training (BGMT) at a training center. After that — additional specialized training depending on the chosen role. We send only the prepared to the line of contact — that is our core principle.

06

What happens after I fill out the form?

+

Your application goes to the recruiting center. Within 24 hours our specialist will call — it’s not an interrogation, just an introduction and answers to your questions. If we’re a match, the brigade issues an official request and our liaison helps you get through the TRC and MMB as fast as possible.

07

Can I transfer to the 141st SMB from another unit?

+

Yes, we consider transfers — including via the Army+ app. Fill out the form and select the status “Active service member” — a recruiter will advise on your real chances and the steps involved.

08

I am AWOL (SZCh). Can I join?

+

The law allows a return to service. If you’re motivated to fight in a sound team — fill out the form and state your status honestly. Our specialists will advise you individually on legal ways to return. Confidentially.

09

Do you provide uniform and equipment?

+

Yes. The brigade fully provides basic kit, body armor, helmets and weapons. Plus — thanks to a strong volunteer network, we have additional technological support: drones, EW, transport.
