Vacancy: Fact-Finding Group Officer

Wherever there are thousands of people and weapons, incidents inevitably occur that need to be examined objectively — not on the basis of rumours or personal sympathies. That is what the fact-finding group does.

The group's officer conducts internal inquiries and investigations into incidents and offences in the brigade: works with documents, interviews those involved and prepares objective conclusions.

This is a position for a lawyer in uniform: what counts here is the ability to work with facts, not readiness for an assault.

Who can become a fact-finding group officer

Legal experience is required — at least one year. This is a specialist position.

What really matters:

  • At least one year of legal experience
  • Knowledge of the AFU's legal and regulatory acts and the procedure for conducting internal investigations
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Business correspondence skills: official records, reports, conclusions
  • Objectivity and stress resilience — not everyone always likes the conclusions
  • Suitable for those with limited fitness and those fully fit for military service

How the officer differs from the group's staff sergeant: the officer conducts the investigation itself and is responsible for the conclusions. The staff sergeant handles the documentation for these inquiries.

What a fact-finding group officer does in the 141st SMB

In addition to what is described in the requirements above:

  • Conducting internal inquiries and investigations into incidents and offences
  • Collecting, analysing and verifying information, documents and statements
  • Interviewing service members and witnesses, preparing case materials
  • Preparing conclusions, reports and recommendations based on the results
  • Liaising with other units and law enforcement agencies as required
  • Observing security classification rules and professional ethics

How you will be trained

The path is the same for everyone: 51 days of basic military training, then the brigade adaptation course — 14–15 days with instructors who have combat experience.

Then you work in your profession. Civilian legal experience counts here: the regulatory framework and context differ, but the method of working with facts is the same.

Tactical medicine is drilled until it becomes automatic. Our instructors' principle is short: the priority is to survive.

What you will be provided with

You will be fully kitted out: gear, protective equipment, a workstation and communications equipment.

You will not be alone. The officer works as part of a group — alongside a staff sergeant who handles the documentation, and the brigade's related services.

What the terms include:

  • Pay: base pay from UAH 25,000 + an additional bonus of UAH 30,000 — approximately UAH 55,000 per month in total, depending on the position and conditions of service
  • Full provision of gear, protective equipment and military property
  • The social package provided for service members
  • Opportunity to obtain combatant status (UBD)

Where you can grow

  • Senior group officer, head of the area
  • The brigade's legal service
  • Staff positions that require legal experience
  • Professionally — practice you will not find in civilian law

In the 141st, competence and results count — not length of service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Logic and process: we answer the key questions about enlistment, training and status.

Apply for this position
01

Do I need a law degree?

+

You need at least one year of legal experience. This is a specialist position, not an administrative one.

02

Is it suitable for those with limited fitness?

+

Yes, the position is suitable both for those with limited fitness and for those fully fit for military service.

03

How does the officer differ from the group's staff sergeant?

+

The officer conducts investigations and prepares conclusions. The staff sergeant handles the documentation for inquiries.

04

I have no military experience. Can I still join you?

+

Yes. Most of our best specialists were civilians yesterday. What matters to us is your motivation. We’ll match a role to your skills: if you understand machinery — you’ll go to the mechanics; if you know electronics — to UAVs or communications. Everything military — we’ll teach you.

05

How long does training take before deployment to the unit?

+

Every recruit completes Basic General Military Training (BGMT) at a training center. After that — additional specialized training depending on the chosen role. We send only the prepared to the line of contact — that is our core principle.

06

What happens after I fill out the form?

+

Your application goes to the recruiting center. Within 24 hours our specialist will call — it’s not an interrogation, just an introduction and answers to your questions. If we’re a match, the brigade issues an official request and our liaison helps you get through the TRC and MMB as fast as possible.

07

Can I transfer to the 141st SMB from another unit?

+

Yes, we consider transfers — including via the Army+ app. Fill out the form and select the status “Active service member” — a recruiter will advise on your real chances and the steps involved.

08

I am AWOL (SZCh). Can I join?

+

The law allows a return to service. If you’re motivated to fight in a sound team — fill out the form and state your status honestly. Our specialists will advise you individually on legal ways to return. Confidentially.

09

Do you provide uniform and equipment?

+

Yes. The brigade fully provides basic kit, body armor, helmets and weapons. Plus — thanks to a strong volunteer network, we have additional technological support: drones, EW, transport.
