Vacancy: SEO Specialist

When someone searches Google for "how to join the AFU" or for a specific position, they should find us — not an intermediary who will then pass their contact details on somewhere else.

The SEO Specialist is responsible for that visibility. The technical health of the site, its structure, semantics, texts written for real search queries — everything that decides whether a person sees the brigade or not.

The task is unusual in that the result is measured not in traffic but in people: how many candidates came directly from search.

Who can become an SEO Specialist

No military experience is required. What you need is professional experience — the same as on the civilian job market.

What really matters:

  • Hands-on technical auditing: indexing, speed, markup, structure
  • Working with semantics: collecting queries, clustering them, mapping them onto the site structure
  • Ability to set tasks for copywriters and developers — an SEO specialist rarely writes everything themselves
  • Analytics: Search Console, understanding exactly what produced the result
  • Medical fitness — determined by the military medical board (VLK)

On the main question: this is a military position, and everyone goes through basic training. But you are hired to work in your profession.

What an SEO Specialist does in the 141st SMB

In addition to what is described in the requirements above:

  • The brigade's website has more than fifty vacancy pages — a large structure with plenty to work on
  • The competition is specific: other brigades, recruitment platforms and job aggregators compete for the same queries
  • JobPosting markup is already in place — vacancy pages can appear in a dedicated Google block, and this is an area worth developing
  • The results are visible in Search Console: impressions, positions, and then — applications

How you will be trained

The path is the same for everyone: 51 days of basic military training, then the brigade adaptation course — 14–15 days with instructors who have combat experience.

For SEO this has a practical side: a person who understands the service from the inside builds the semantic core differently and words the texts more precisely. Candidates' queries are queries about fears and doubts, and you need to know how to answer them.

Tactical medicine is drilled until it becomes automatic. Our instructors' principle is short: the priority is to survive.

What you will be provided with

You will be fully kitted out: gear, protective equipment and the equipment you need for the job.

You will not be on your own. SEO works hand in hand with the paid social specialist, SMM and the people who write the texts: the digital recruitment branch is a team.

What the terms include:

  • Pay: base pay of UAH 21,000 and an additional bonus of UAH 30,000, approximately UAH 51,000–55,000 in total
  • Full provision of gear, protective equipment and military property
  • The social package provided for service members
  • Opportunity to obtain combatant status (UBD)

Where you can grow

  • Head of the digital recruitment branch — the whole funnel, not just search
  • Analytics and recruitment strategy
  • Related roles — targeted advertising, content, web development
  • Professionally — experience of promoting a large site structure in a competitive niche

In the 141st, competence and results count — not length of service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Logic and process: we answer the key questions about enlistment, training and status.

Apply for this position
01

Will I have to fight?

+

This is a military position, and everyone goes through basic training. But you are hired to work in your profession.

02

What state is the website in now?

+

The technical groundwork is already done: JobPosting markup, sitemap, metadata, speed. The main focus of the work is content and structure for real search queries.

03

Is there access to analytics?

+

Yes, Search Console is connected, and data on queries and positions is available.

04

I have no military experience. Can I still join you?

+

Yes. Most of our best specialists were civilians yesterday. What matters to us is your motivation. We’ll match a role to your skills: if you understand machinery — you’ll go to the mechanics; if you know electronics — to UAVs or communications. Everything military — we’ll teach you.

05

How long does training take before deployment to the unit?

+

Every recruit completes Basic General Military Training (BGMT) at a training center. After that — additional specialized training depending on the chosen role. We send only the prepared to the line of contact — that is our core principle.

06

What happens after I fill out the form?

+

Your application goes to the recruiting center. Within 24 hours our specialist will call — it’s not an interrogation, just an introduction and answers to your questions. If we’re a match, the brigade issues an official request and our liaison helps you get through the TRC and MMB as fast as possible.

07

Can I transfer to the 141st SMB from another unit?

+

Yes, we consider transfers — including via the Army+ app. Fill out the form and select the status “Active service member” — a recruiter will advise on your real chances and the steps involved.

08

I am AWOL (SZCh). Can I join?

+

The law allows a return to service. If you’re motivated to fight in a sound team — fill out the form and state your status honestly. Our specialists will advise you individually on legal ways to return. Confidentially.

09

Do you provide uniform and equipment?

+

Yes. The brigade fully provides basic kit, body armor, helmets and weapons. Plus — thanks to a strong volunteer network, we have additional technological support: drones, EW, transport.
